Efflorescent Armor
International Perfume Bottle Association, Perfume Bottle Design Competition 2024
For this design, I was inspired by a twisted rope bottle from the Chelsea Porcelain Factory that I found in the Royal Trust Collection. This repetitive, encasing pattern made me think of the foam packaging for asian pears. I used Autodesk Fusion 360 to design the bottle in parts before 3D printing it with PLA filament and assembling it by hand. The outer white structure protects the silver, asian pear shaped core, where the perfume would be stored. The stopper is shaped after the pear tree blossoms. I imagine this bottle would hold a fruity floral perfume, like L’Eau d’Issey Pivoine Issey Miyake.
